Confession: my bum bag was actually purchased at Reading Festival…Yes, I am sort of hugely embarrassed by that but, for a fiver I have no reasons to complain. Ah, bum bags (infamously known as “fanny packs”) you either love them or hate them. Believe it or not, you CAN find them in other shops apart from Mountain Warehouse! But, how have bum bags dominated the streets of this month’s fashion shows?
First of all, please do not think that bum bags are for old people. They’re not. They aren’t just for festivals either. You’ve most probably seen a bum bag worn like a cross body bag, instead of around a waist. Weirdly, I prefer wearing a bum bag like I would a cross body bag. I think that it acts as an alternative to your classic bag. It gives an outfit a bit more edge.
I really wanted to show you guys that styling a bag like this doesn’t have to be complicated. It is an effortless choice, and makes an outfit a little bit less humdrum!
I styled my festival brought bag with my nasty gal dress (find similar here as my one is sold out: here), topshop polo neck (find similar here) and my eytys sneakers. After my look book photos, I feature some of my all time favourite bum bags at a range of different prices.
Summer may have ended a couple of days ago, however, dresses are still an acceptable item to be worn all year round. I have featured this glorious dress before, in previous posts. By layering a thin knit or polo neck underneath, you instantly change the outfit from summer to autumn. Equally, try swapping a mini dress for a midi or maxi dress to create a more elegant look. Below, are my top ten favourite bags and afterwards, an exciting announcement!
So, what’s the announcement? I last visited Paris in 2015, a fair while back. If you didn’t know, The Museum of Decorative Arts is hosting the most incredible exhibition on Dior. I thought it was entirely appropriate to arrange a trip to none other than Paris. I will be making another travel diary, but this time on Paris.
