Rome Travel Diary: Part 1

Rome Travel Diary: Part 1

They say, “When in Rome, eat pasta, pizza and gelato”, these are words that even I, strive to live by. Rome has been on the top of my list for way too long. It is the city of food, fashion and art- my three favourite words! I might even go as far as saying that, Rome is my new favourite city. Of course, Paris and London are great, but there was something about Rome that I couldn’t help falling in love with.

This trip was very last minute, something I always try to avoid! We stayed in a beautiful Airbnb (which you can book here) in the heart of Monti, Rome’s coolest neighbourhood. Our Airbnb was only a couple of minutes walk from the Colosseum and the historic centre. I am such a sucker for cities like Rome, I always leave wanting more. Rome has such a charm, which makes it hard for anyone not to fall in love with.

I am going to be sharing some of my favourite places to eat, drink, people watch and shop. Not to mention, all of the other amazing things this beautiful city has to offer.

Monti

As I mentioned, our Airbnb was located within the beautiful Monti. I would compare it to the Notting Hill of London: very cool with lots of beautiful boutiques and good food and drink. There are also some of the best vintage shops. My favourites were “King Size” and “Human Vintage Roma”. Regarding the best food in Monti, Urbana 47 is where you should be heading! Their pizzas are delicious and they make very good homemade tiramisu. Another food hotspot is “Sciue Sciue”, but make sure to book as this is always busy.

In the centre of Rome, I discovered the BEST breakfast ever. I am aware, I say that a lot! However, this breakfast was certainly not one to forget. “Ginger Sapori E Saluti” has the most incredible fruit platters I had ever seen (and I have seen a LOT of fruit platters in my time!). We ordered the medium, and trust me, it was more than plenty…

Throughout the trip, I mostly wore my current favourite dress from Micheal Micheal Kors. You can buy it here: Michael Michael Kors dress. I also wore my Illesteva sunglasses and Iris Fashion espadrilles (click here and here).
